Energy audit and analysis of a medical center including a full site energy model to aid in evaluating and identifying potential savings measures. Energy conservation measures installed as part of a $1 million dollar upgrade included:

▪ Variable primary pumping, and full chiller plant controls upgrade.

▪ Upgrade of pneumatic controls to direct digital controls.

▪ Improvement in temperature control, economizer operation, and fan run-time.

▪ Boiler fuel switching from fuel oil to natural gas.

▪ Recommissioning of all facility air handlers and plants.

▪ $300,000 annual savings identified with a simple payback of less than four years.

Griffith Engineering’s energy model was built in four separate parts to allow for calibration to each of the facilities’ meters. The files were then combined to evaluate whole site impact of energy measures. The final model contained 73 unique systems serving over 320 spaces.
