This four story structure includes four large vaults, and houses many of the state’s historical documents and art dating from the 1600s. Georgia’s own hand-written copy of the Declaration of Independence is also stored in the facility. The project scope included:
▪ Assessment of all HVAC systems to ensure that they were capable of maintaining the appropriate conditions for artifact preservation while reducing energy consumption.
▪ Identification of equipment and components that had failed or were about to fail.
▪ Recommendation of improved controls on systems to optimize space conditions and provide better monitoring.
▪ Recommendation of variable frequency drives to minimize excessive airflow during low loads.
▪ 170,000 square feet.
