Project Description

Georgia World Congress Center
Atlanta, GA

GEI was selected to be part of a team of consultants for this Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) for the fourth largest convention center in the United States. Our work included:

▪ Creating an investment grade energy model of the entire GWCC complex.

▪ The model was capable of accurately predicting the proposed new chilled and hot water plants, lighting retrofits, and controls measures.

▪ Detailed onsite audits revealed retrocommissioning opportunities that were added to the scope of the project.

▪ Methodologies developed around the model will be used for innovative Option D measurement and verification.

▪ 3,900,000 square feet.

▪ $28,500,000 total project cost.

Modeling this facility provided a number of challenges including three separate chilled water and hot water plants all serving connected piping loops. No weekly or monthly occupancy patterns were present as spaces in the building are uniquely used by each convention, so custom scheduling solutions were created for the model.
