Daiken Decatur Manufacturing Plant

In 2011, Griffith Engineering audited Daikin Chemical’s manufacturing plant in Decatur Alabama. This facility was looking for ways to reduce its energy cost and consumption and facilitate replacement of aging HVAC equipment. GEI served as the primary energy engineers and design consultants by providing energy saving solutions from the initial project development stage to final MEP design.

  • GEI’s employees audited over 500,000 sqft of manufacturing and support facilities.
  • GEI Designed a new modular centralized chilled water plant to serve multiple buildings.
  • Thermal imaging was used to identify heat loss in steam system.
  • Incorporated replacement of existing air handlers in project to capture energy savings potential.
  • Solar PV array developed with funding assistance from TVA rebates.
  • Over $1,200,000 in annual energy and maintenance saving identified.
